On March 6th, 2012 the determined and professional efforts of a team of Officers of the Los Angeles Police Department and members of the District Attorney's Office resulted in the sentencing for nearly three years in prison for the driver who caused the hit-and-run death of German Alex Romero, a 17-year-old senior at Chatsworth High School.  We express our appreciation for the professional efforts of the following Officers of the Valley Traffic Division under the command of Captain Ivan Minsal: Detective Krajchir, Officer Martinez, Officer Talley, and Officer Larkin.  Although hit and run crimes often are difficult to solve, these Officers demonstrated persistence.  Officers, please accept our sincere thanks, and for your professional efforts day in and day out, they are appreciated.

Los Angeles Critical Mass rides are inclusive positive experiences for all.   Come prepared to celebrate and pedal with others in the largest bicycle ride in the City of Los Angeles, and now America's largest rolling conversation. Our rides have over 3000 cyclists and include a Los Angeles Police Department Officer presence on bicycles, and on motorcycles.

Each month the ride takes a different route, and riders discover new parts of the Los Angeles area. LACM rides are on the last Friday of each month.  Riders meet each other at 6:30 p.m. at the Purple Line Station, on the NE Corner of Western Avenue and Wilshire Blvd. and the ride rolls at 7:29 p.m.  Parking is conveniently available if needed.

LA Critical Mass monthly rides are approximately 30 miles with a speed around 8-10 miles mph, enabling riders of all ages, types of bicycles and nearly all levels of experience to celebrate and pedal together as a mass. Nearly 20% of riders are women.  Groups of friends and entire families can participate together.

There are always at least two brief stops, and often times three. It is always a good idea on all rides to bring something to eat, drink, wear a helmet, have front and rear lights, a brake and in case of flat, (tube, levers, pump, patch kit).  Snacks, water, sports drinks, hot beverages, spoke cards, tubes and repair tools are available at the Ride Support Vehicle.

Our Ride Crew Volunteers are committed to assist you before, during and after rides.  If you are interested in assisting our fellow riders, let us know.

Los Angeles Critical Mass ends around Midnight, and ends at Sunset Blvd. and Western Avenue very convenient to an open Metro Red Line Station.

Come out meet new people, discover new parts of the great city of Los Angeles, celebrate and ride with a purpose.

Ride Daily, Celebrate Monthly. LA Critical Mass, we ride the last Friday of every month.  Ride LACM we do riding right.

Outdoor Products®, Outdoor Recreation Group has thoughtfully donated lightweight performance hydration backpacks to encourage volunteerism within LACM. Help us help others, you'll be happy and hydrated.

Some of the ways you can assist LACM and your fellow cyclists are:

Ride Crew (communicates with other volunteers so gaps are minimized during the ride).

Ride Angel Crew (during the ride helps riders with flats or other mechanical issues and then accompanies them back to the ride).

Promotion Crew (promotes LACM rides – online, bike shops, social media, calendar event posts).

If you are interested in assisting your fellow cyclists send an email with your #, to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

The mission of Los Angeles Critical Mass is to organize and promote the fun of bicycling and to encourage bicycling as a leisure activity, as a sport or as a means of transportation.  Los Angeles Critical Mass is, not-for-profit, a-political and non-religious--in short, independent and welcoming to all bicyclists!

A couple of Los Angeles Police Department Officers who support our efforts to make LA Critical Mass rides positive, rather than negative have individually come out of pocket and given Los Angeles Critical Mass over $1600.00 worth of new helmets for riders of Los Angeles Critical Mass who can not afford a helmet and are under the age of 18.

These helmets are new. There are a variety of sizes and designs.

If you want a helmet, send us an email. (see the contact us page on this web site.)

Only those selected to get a helmet will receive instructions with the time and address to pick up the helmet on Friday April 29, so it can be worn on the ride. Be sure to check spam or bulk email in case our reply email to you ends up there.

Note: there are a limited number of helmets so we can not promise everyone who sends an email will receive a helmet. The rider must be present at the place and time within the email on Friday April 29 or the helmet will be given out to another rider.

We hope you’ll want to help us help others. To volunteer to assist either before or during LA Critical Mass rides please email us.  Thank you for choosing to ride LA Critical Mass.
